Test Credit Card Generator

Generate and validate test card numbers with the Luhn algorithm

About this tool

Generate test credit card numbers that pass the Luhn algorithm and use the right prefix for each brand — Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Elo, Hipercard, Diners and Discover — with fictitious expiry and CVV.

They're meant for testing masks, brand detection and checkout form validation. They aren't real cards: they don't belong to any account and any purchase attempt is declined. To test real payments, use your gateway's test cards (Stripe, Adyen, etc.).

How to use

  1. Pick a brand.
  2. Set the quantity and whether numbers should be grouped with spaces.
  3. Copy a single number or the whole list (number | expiry | CVV).
  4. To check a number, type it under Validate a number: the tool tells you if it passes Luhn and which brand it is.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Luhn algorithm?

A check-digit formula (modulo 10) used on cards to catch typos. Passing Luhn doesn't mean the card exists.

Can I buy things with these numbers?

No. They aren't linked to any account and are declined by every acquirer. They exist only for software testing.

How is the brand detected?

By the first digits (BIN/IIN). The tool uses the most specific prefix, which distinguishes, for example, Elo cards starting with 4 from Visa cards.

Why does Amex have 15 digits and a 4-digit CVV?

That's the American Express standard: 15 digits grouped 4-6-5 and a 4-digit security code.
