About this tool

The character counter shows in real time how many characters (with and without spaces), words, sentences, paragraphs and lines your text has, plus estimated reading and speaking time and size in bytes.

Progress bars show whether the text fits common limits — X posts, SEO title and meta description, SMS and Instagram captions — and the most frequent words list helps you spot repetition.

How to use

  1. Type or paste text in the main area.
  2. Watch the counters at the top update on every keystroke.
  3. Check the limit bars: yellow means close, red means over.
  4. Your text is saved in the browser; use Clear to start over.

Frequently asked questions

Do emojis count as one character?

Yes. Counting is per grapheme, so 👍🏽 or composed accented letters count as 1, just like you see them.

How is reading time calculated?

We use an average of 200 words per minute for silent reading and 130 for speaking.

What's the ideal meta description length?

Around 150 to 160 characters; longer text is usually truncated in Google results.

Is my text saved on a server?

No. It's kept only in your browser's local storage.
